Go Hofstra!

Hofstra's dining services company is doing some pretty awesome things to make themselves greener. When I saw this advertisement I decided to look into it. I was kind of expecting the 'usual' e.g. (company decides to not buy paper cups since this is cheaper and they are motivated by the idea of saving money). But, I found some really creative ideas on the website! The best part is that various people and companies can easily apply the same ideas for a similar effect and benefit to all. :)

So, since these ideas are applicable to so many situations I think it is a good thing to share.

i.e.

They use mugs & give monetary incentives to customers for re-using them:
So not only do they reduce waste from paper cups, and save money, but by passing on some of the savings to the customers they create an incentive to involve other people who can also save MORE TREES...

They schedule their deliveries more efficiently:
So by getting organized and planning ahead a little bit, there's no need to send out delivery trucks ten times a week since, they are able to make those deliveries on one run. Thereby, they save money, gas, AND NATURAL RESOURCES...

They recycle.
This is obviously good.

Lastly, (and my personal favorite) they use local produce and products.

We know why this is good -> Previous Awesome Green Tee Post

So, it's not hard to see how these ideas can be incorporated by YOU. You can do these things yourself and/or make suggestions at your workplace. I suggest you do.
